Keela ↔ Flodesk consent architecture
· DELIVERED · integration · The Contentment Foundation
Designed cross-system unsubscribe handling so consent does not depend on someone noticing a Slack message.
Problem
Unsubscribe state lived in separate fundraising and newsletter tools. Manual sync was error-prone, and routing the workflow through Slack would have hidden failures inside chat instead of enforcing consent.
Intervention
Consent synchronization across both systems, with transactional and tax communications left intact. Slack is failure monitoring only, deliberately not the workflow. Also clarified where separate forms were genuinely needed because nurture sequences differ, versus over-engineering a page per flow.
Result
- Consent architecture designed across Keela and Flodesk
- Flodesk → Keela automatable; Keela → Flodesk still required a manual fallback at design sign-off
- Transactional and tax communications preserved
- Slack used only as an exception channel, never as the workflow
- Fewer redundant donation and newsletter pages where one flow was enough
